Retinal Surgery - Self experience

It is said that eyes are windows to your soul. But what happens when eyes start giving blurry vision which is a reminder that life is not always clear and predictable. I feel that when we focus on getting rid of problems, possibilities become endless. The easiest way to solve the problem is to stop participating in the problem. Seeing the world through blurred eyes opens up your perception to new possibilities.  It teaches us to sometimes embrace the unknown.You have to trust your instincts to guide you through the haze. 

It is almost in the same situation, I am passing through now after my return in June end this year from Belgium after staying with family of my daughter for one month. In fact, I went to stay for three months but due to persistent tensions brewing in my mind after my wife demise in Oct 2021 and its prolonged consequent effects, I preferred to switch over to Delhi.

After some days, I started feeling of blurry vision and went for Doctor's checkup. Tests verified hole in the retina of my right eye Retina is the light detecting layer at the back of the eye essential for vision. Anything that effects Retina should be taken up seriously since vision cannot be restored once it's lost. 

A hole occurs in the Retina when something attached to retina tugs too hard. The gel inside the eye shrinks and separates from the sides including retina. Sometimes, it tightly sticks to retina and, in separating it can rip a hole here causing retinal tear.Fluid can leak behind the retina and build up, causing retina to detach. If not treated properly, vision loss can occur. 

The reason for my vision distortion as explained by Doctor (second opinion sought )  was due to consistent high bood pressure Heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure can damage blood vessels in the eyes resulting blurred and altered vision. During the procedure, Doctor puts numbing drops in the eyes and then inserts a small needle to remove a small amount of fluid to soften the eye. Then injects a small amount of intraocular gas in the vitreous (Bubble type) . It is a gel like fluid that fills your eye and is full of tiny fibres that attach to retina. It provides nutrients to eye to keep it in shape. The gas, as such, lasts for several days and gently pushes the retina against the back of eye. 

Recovery procedure -  Doctor has used Gas bubble to flatten Retina during surgery, you may have to keep head face down throughout for at 30 to 40 days (still doing) or as instructed by Doctor. This means staying face down when you stand, sit, eat, walk and sleep. Surgery may not work out if you donot follow the recommended position.   

Tailpiece  - I shut my eyes down and all the world drops dead, I lift my eyes and all is born again.It is only with the heart one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to eye. As eyes shows the strength of your soul.

India's growth accelerated to 7.7.% in 4th quarter of 2017-18 (F.Y.) which was up from 7% in the previous quarter.
