Blog Post 333 - Supreme Court orders on Forensic audit of Fortis Healthcare shares deal

It is mentioned in media reports today that Hon'ble Supreme Court of India has ordered for forensic audit of shares deal carried out by Fortis Healthcare. Certainly, the hospital run by corporate has concentrated on increasing share value in stock exchange without caring for how the Doctors are treating patients. It is not only in one hospital but the menace is spreading silently thoughout the health sector. This situation became more aggravated ever since the Govt. started giving subsidies to such hospitals for the treatment of COVID patienrs. Besides, this report I wish that the report will cover the issues of internal working of hospital, mentioned below/

In my earlier posts. I did make a mention of that Doctors in private hospitals are looking for to meet the targets set out in order to save their jobs and for this they poach for the patients to meet their targets. They keep patients in ICUs for more than required period thereafter declare them dead after the bill cross their targets.

I could not understand that if the doctors are so incompetent to treat the patient then why they keep them ICU for longer pariods, probably they want to show the hospital management that they have made so much earning. Such doctors are black spots on the profession - very shameful. Such doctors are still on the payroll of hospital - must have killed more patients by now - be checked?

I have passed through this stage last year when my wife admiited for removal of stone in Gal bladder was kept in ICU for 35 days, later declared dead on 11th october giving a mischevious reason that she was not well. I did make a camplaint to Dr. Ashok Seth, chairman who does not do surgeries but refers to other doctors. Further, these doctors also does not carry out surgeries but instructs trainee doctors. They are least bothered about further welfare except making rounds to charge the fees for the visits in hospital records.

The issue of raising my case now is that court should also take a note of and make a part of Forensic Audit inspection report whereby -

1.  Working of such hospitals where non- performing Senior doctors should be investigated and strict action be taken on such doctors who work for their salaries and meeting the finances of such hospitals.

2. It is often heard that the bodies of covid patients who died. were not handed over to the family members and was cremated by hospitals itself. Who has made money out of this ?

3. Doctors who instructs the trainee doctors to carry out the surgeries should be sent to medical colleges to give training for new upcoming students in the profession.

4. Proper reason be given for keeping the patient for longer period, maybe it is due to Doctor's negligence or otherwise. This will prevent unwanted deaths even after keeping patients for longer period ( recent case of Raju Srivastva who was kept for 45 days in ICU be examined).

5. Govt. should stop funding such hospitals found breaching the code of conduct for carrying out the noble profeesion honestly.

I an confident that during the course of Forensic Audit, searching of records in hospitals will certainly open up a pandora box in these activities as also into the misuse of Govt. money. Will certainly save the human lives on the other.

Tail piece - May be I will be able to get a detailed report on my wife's death which I am waiting  since last year.
