Leadership Comes With Great Responsibility

In a leadership role, person is pushed to become a good role model, make decisions, be fair and reliable and to have integrity. One of the most important qualities is to have commitment. Facing high pressure, complex circumstances, opportunity deadlines, too much, too little, or conflicting information is the reality of being a leader.  If you expect your team to work hard to attain success, you have to lead by setting an example. By proving your commitment to the overall goals and to your own role, you will not only earn the respect and admiration of your team, but you will also encourage same hardworking energy among your staff. Good leaders develop through a never ending process of self study, education, training and experience.

Responsibility is the state or certainty of having an obligation to manage something or of having power over somebody. Duty is something each individual is to develop themselves, it should turn into a piece of one's character. Good leaders surround themselves with the right people in the right jobs. This facilitates being able to lead rather manage.

Leaders will be able to execute their responsibility when they realize that the key to all changes is in our inner transformation - a change of our hearts and minds - when we change, the world changes. This is human revolution. We all have the power to change. When we realize this truth, we can bring that power, any where, anytime and in any situation.

Relevant attributes that seem important for responsible leadership in the current era are :

1. Being able to make informed ethical judgments about the existing norms and rules.

2. Displaying moral courage and aspiring to positive change.

3. Engaging in long-term thinking and in perspective taking.

4. Communicating effectively with stakeholders.

5. Participating in collective problem-solving.

Leaders have little excuse not to adhere to a logic that promises much. It is time they accept that what may have previously been viewed by many as a fad is now a necessary and desirable cultural change. Don't underestimate the value of soft skills, though, as there are some key ones one will need to be a responsible leader.
