Side Effects After Removing Gal Bladder / Stones

I have earlier made a post here about the Causes, Symptoms and treatment of Gall Bladder Stones. I am now sharing my views on the side effects after the removal of Gall Bladder and the stones.

Gal Bladder removal is the last resort, but, one may try lifestyle changes first before surgery becomes necessary.Gal Bladder removal is a fairly common procedure, but it's always possible that one may experience some side effects. Knowing how to identify and reduce symptoms, side effects and complications before and after surgery may make for an easier experience.
Fortunately, one can live a healthy life without Gal Bladder and the surgery to remove it is relatively simple. Without a Gal Bladder, bile can move directly from Liver to intestines to aid in digestion. However, there are still some chance one might experience after Gal Bladder removal.

Gal Bladder surgery side effects
1. Difficulty in Digesting fat - It may take sometime for your body to adjust to its new method of
digesting fat.The medications given during surgery may also cause indigestion. This does not
typically last long, but some patients do develop long-term side effects, usually caused by Bile
leaking into other organs or Gall stones that were left behind in the bile duct.
2.  Diarrhea and Flatulence - Indigestion can cause Diarrhea and flatulence often made worse by
excess fat or too little fiber in in the diet. Bile leakage can mean having an insufficient amount
of bile in the intestines to digest fat, which loosens stool.
3.  Constipation - Though removal of Gal bladder usually reduces constipation, dehydration can make
     the constipation worse.
4.  Intestinal injury - Though rare but possible that pain in intestines continues for long time, Doctor
     be consulted.
5.  Fever or Jaundice - Stone which remain in the duct after surgery can cause severe pain or
jaundice, yellowing the skin. Complete blockage can cause infection.

To increase the chances of recovery, one may suggest Doctor to stay for 3 to 5 days in the hospital.
If one have a key hole or laparoscopic surgery, may be able to go home same day. Either way, not to stress for at least two weeks with limited fiber intake in diet.
Alternative to surgery
1. Diet and exercise - Diet lower in fat and high in fiber and full of fruits and vegetables can also
improve Gal Bladder health. Eat magnesium-rich foods, chocolates, Spinach, Nuts, Seeds and
Beans to improve Gal Bladder health.
2. Gal Bladder cleanse - Refers to avoiding food for up to 12 hours then drinking a liquid like - 4
spoons of olive oil with one spoon of Lemon juice every 15 minutes for two hours.
3. Tonics - Apple cider vinegar and Turmeric both have been to reduce inflammation. Mix them with
water, can enjoy as a tea - like drink and experience relief of your Gal Bladder symptoms. For
some people, finding menthol in Peppermint tea to be soothing also.
Acupuncture may be of benefit to those with Gal Bladder disease. It most likely works by increasing
the flow of Bile while also reducing spasms and pain.
