Preventing Kidney Stones means preventing the conditions that support their formation. Preventing Kidney stones is not complicated, but it does take determination.

1)  Stay Hydrated - Drinking more water is the best way to prevent Kidney Stones. Lemonade and
     Orange juice are also good options. They both contain Citrate which may prevent stones from

2) Eat more Calcium Rich foods - The most common type of Kidney stone is the Calcium Oxalate
     stones, leading many people to believe they should avoid eating calcium. The opposite is true.
    Taking calcium supplements with meals may help reduce the risk. Low- fat milk, Low- fat Cheese
    and Low- fat Yogurt are all good calcium - rich food options.

3) Eat Less Sodium - High -salt diet increases the risk of Calcium Kidney Stones. Too much salt in
     the urine prevents calcium from being reabsorbed from urine to Blood. This causes high urine
     calcium which may lead to Kidney Stones. Eating less salt helps keep urine calcium levels lower,
     lowering risk of developing Kidney stones.

4) Eat fewer Oxalate - Rich foods - Limiting oxalate -rich foods may help prevent stones from
    forming. These are - Spinach, Chocolate, Sweet Potatoes, Coffee, Beets, Peanuts, Wheat Bran,
    Soy products, Rhubarb (a type of fruit).

5) Avoid Vitamin C supplements - Vitamin C supplements may cause Kidney Stones in men. It
    doubles the risk forming stones.

6) Eat less Animal Protein - As they are acidic and may increase Uric Acid. May cause both Uric
    Acid and Calcium Oxalate kidney stones.

7) Explore Herbal Remedies - ' Chanca Piedra' known as 'Stone Breaker' is a popular herbal remedy
    for Kidney Stones to help preventing calcium - oxalate stones from forming, as also to reduce the
    size of existing stone. In India, it is known as -  'Hajarmani' and Bhuinanvalah'.
