Managing incompetent boss at the workplace is better known as stopping the Bullying by him. Bullying is defined as when an individual or a group of people repeatedly and intentionally cause hurt or harm to another person or group of persons who feel helpless to respond. It can continue over time, is often hidden and probably continue if no action is taken to stop this menace.
