Learnings From The Past

The past isn't meant to be forgotten. In many ways, the past is meant to be celebrated. The moments that have come before, the memories, the cities one have been to, the mistakes and choices one has made. It is called the past for a reason. Because it's come and gone, it's behind and in rear view, it has passed. But it's still important. The past teaches us: How we've grown, what we've learned, the people who have shaped us and the person we've become, which is very important. If one bury the past, one can't learn from his mistakes, can't acknowledge the emotions, can't grow. One should not have to cling desperately to past, tie it like lead balloons to ankles and hands. But the need to remember is, need to accept what it teaches and how it can help.
Instead, hold its lessons and Happy memories close to your heart, let all that build you into an even better person. There is no reason to hang on to the past regret and pain. But there is a reason to remember it - To keep this form from happening in the future, to protect yourself, to be aware. You will always have quirks that are reminiscent of your loved ones, habits from the people who have left this earth, or thoughts that remind you of someone you knew, or some where you've been.
But those who choose to simply forget the past miss out on its fullest potential. There are valuable lessons to be learned from it. And those who choose to ask the right questions about their past are most prepared to live life to the fullest in the present.
Following are few lessons we can learn from the past. By simply asking the questions, we can discover-
1) Strengths that define us.
2) Causes that energise us.
3) Relationships that inspire us.
4) Environments that derail us.
5) Weaknesses that frustrate us.
6) Habits that invigorate us.
7) Affection that bring joy to us.
8) Pursuits that distract us.
9) Addictions that control us.
10) Temptations that trip us.
11) Learning styles that suits us.
12) Motivation that compel us.

If we start asking the right questions, there are countless life - saving lessons, we can learn from the past, never feel that you have to be defined by it. But it would be equally foolish to forget it completely when it offers so much potential for the present.
