Artificial Intelligence shaking up Job Market

The primary drivers of change identified is the role of emerging technologies such as Artificial
Intelligence and automation. Technical jobs like Software Engineers & Data Analysts along with technical skills such as Cloud computing, Mobile Applications development, Software testing,
and Artificial Intelligence are on the rise in most industries and across all regions. But a number
of jobs that have seen the largest decreases in share of hiring over the past five years. These
occupation include Administrative Assistants, Customer Service Representatives, Accountants,
Electrical/Mechanical Technicians, many of which depend upon repetitive tasks.
The effect of Artificial Intelligence is not theoretical, it is very much part of our present. As such,
closer look is needed to look into growing presence of Artificial Intelligence skills in the work
force impacting different industries and job functions globally. A closer look on skills is needed
to create Artificial Technologies which includes expertise in like Neural networks, Deep learning, machine learning and tools like Weka and Scikit learning.  Artificial Intelligence skills are among
the fastest growing skills which saw increase by 190% from 2015 to 2017.

While Artificial Intelligence is unlikely to replace human workers, uncertainty remains regarding
what types of jobs will be created, how permanent. They will be and what kind of training they
may require. Preparing the workforce for these changes will depend on a Data-Driven approach
to understand the trends that are shaping the future of the labour market and a commitment to
investing in lifelong learning opportunities that can help workers adapt to rapid economic
shifts.
As new skills emerge, Governments, Employers and Educational institutions should consider
how they can effectively develop learning programs which equip people with the skills they
need to keep up with the modern economy.
