Blog Post - 334 Reiki - a complimentary health approach

Mikao Usai, a Japanese national born on 15th August. 1865 was the father of a form of spiritual practice known as Reiki. He used this as an alternative therapy for the treatment of physical, emotional and manual diseases.Reiki is a combination of two japanese words - "rei" means God's wisdom or the higher power and "ki" means life force energy. Reiki is an energy healing technique which promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. The practitioners use their hands to deliver energy to the body thereby improving balance and flow of energy to support healing.     Treatment process starts with the Master placing hands gently on or over a part of body. They leave their palms in that position while an energy transfer occurs which may take upto 10-15 minutes. The practitioner don't perform healing but act as a source through which the energy flows. During healing, one may feel sensations like heat, pulsing or tingling in the body, and many...

Blog Post 333 - Supreme Court orders on Forensic audit of Fortis Healthcare shares deal

It is mentioned in media reports today that Hon'ble Supreme Court of India has ordered for forensic audit of shares deal carried out by Fortis Healthcare. Certainly, the hospital run by corporate has concentrated on increasing share value in stock exchange without caring for how the Doctors are treating patients. It is not only in one hospital but the menace is spreading silently thoughout the health sector. This situation became more aggravated ever since the Govt. started giving subsidies to such hospitals for the treatment of COVID patienrs. Besides, this report I wish that the report will cover the issues of internal working of hospital, mentioned below/  In my earlier posts. I did make a mention of that Doctors in private hospitals are looking for to meet the targets set out in order to save their jobs and for this they poach for the patients to meet their targets. They keep patients in ICUs for more than required period thereafter declare them dead after the bill cross their ...

When will India come out of inferiority complex ?

Don't get me wrong as there are many things which needs improvement in India. But, at the same time, blindly thinking that west is better  than India and we should behave like people in west totally absurd. Indians bending over backwards to please foreigners reflects a deeprooted sense of inferiority.  Mr. Alfred Adler, born on 7th February, 1870 in Vienna who coined the idea of inferiority complex. He was a Austrian physician and psychiatrist best known for forming a schol of thought known as individual psychology. He held that many neurotic symptoms could be traced to over compensation of this feeling. Inferiority complex is a multi - layered disorder that generally has more than one cause. It is meant as lack of self esteem, self confidence and feeling of inadequacy. It is not a diagnosable mental health disorder. Chances are that one experiences feeling of self doubt and uncertainty at some point. So, if a negative self-image effects daily life continuoisly, one might have ...

Comparison between leader and politician in democracy

A leader is one who strives for to make a powerful country. Whereas politician tries for his power. Leader believes in "Unity is strength". Whereas politician in decentralisation as strength. Leader earn respect by virtue of character. A politician demands respect of office. Leader adresses the problems and provides sustainable solutions to it whereas politician blames the ruling party and this a common feature of discussions commonly heard in media daily. A true leader is concerned about the next generation whereas Politician thinks about the next election. A leader always come with a clear course of action and take responsilibity of errors, if made. A politician seeks to avoid responsibility for errors and act to be smart all the time. A leader is one who leads from the front whereas the politician is one who leads from the back.  In democracy, politics need to be open up to the youth and veterans in the domain should promote the younger generation into mainstream politics....

Strange ways of flow of Economy

It is quite surprising the way economy is moving in India. As I understand, quite confusing views are coming up which needs to be sorted out in a suitable manner to put the economy in a systemic mode (shared herein) since these observations swings either way of understanding and seems difficult to sort out.   1. If interest rates are increased. How the poor can afford house, car to live a smooth life? 2. If interest rates are decreased. How elders earn interest to live a retirement life. 3. If tax rates are increased, Govt. is taking people's share of bread and butter. 4. If tax rates are reduced, Govt. is trying to help rich. 5. If GDP increases, Govt. is working for big corporates. 6. If GDP reduces, there is no job creation. 7. If currency strengthens, exports gets impacted. 8. If currency weakens, import bill goes up. 9. If food prices go up, masses get suffered. 10. If food prices are down, farmers get suffering.  11. If stock market is going up, economy is in a mess....

Modern slavery and Corruption

Modern day slavery is the acute exploitation of other people for personal or commercial gain. Modern slavery is around us but just out of our sight. From outside, the jobs people are doing look like a normal one. But they are controlled by threats of being their jobs taken away, pushing them into inescapable debt traps and the likewise simply because they are in search of opportunities to save the lives of their families from poverty To achieve this, most fall into oppressive traps.and end up in modern slavery.  Following are the main common forms of slavery -  1. Human Trafficking 2. Bonded labour/ Debt bondage. 3. Slavery of children. 4. Forced labour/early marriage 5.  Traditional way of slavery where people are treated as property and their 'slave' status passed down the family line. Slavery and like forms of exploitation are facilitated and thrive by rampant use of corruption. Whatever the Govt, make laws/ rules and regulations and related controlling measues, unless...

Lucrative business opportunity in healthcare

Healthcare is supposed to cater to public as social service to the public. Govt. of  India is spending good sum to promote this service, even more in meeting the Covid menace.  The availability of funds has now emerged in converting the hospitals as a profit center.  These hospitals are now becoming more concerned about making profits and improving their share value in stock exchanges instead of providing proper health care. The treatment given to the patients is evaluated on the basis of his financial capacity rather than focusing on treatment. Patients are kept for more than longer period just to raise the bill so that hospital make profit. Even the top most doctors are either not competent enough to manage this because their purpose is to make profit. Whether a patient dies after keeping more than required time is of no concern for them.  It is often heard of the incidents in case of Covid patients who died in hospitals, their bodies were not handed over to the fa...

Measures to control Inflation

In real terms, inflation is the decline in the purchasing power of currency. In India, for example, one can recollect rate of sugar was Rs.5/- to Rs 6/- per kg. in around 1960s. Whereas today it is Rs.40.- and above. Same is also in other segments of the economy. So, it is not the cost is high but the value of currency is going down since the product is the same whereas in money terms, value of Rupee has gone down since more money is being spent now to acquire the same quantity. On the other hand,  production is going down not only due to our more dependency on imported goods which is growing day by day. The rates at which banks are giving loans are becoming costly. Moreover, demand outstrips supply and in order to maintain supply employer has to spend more on labor and materials. Going down of production causes loss of jobs and thus unemployment grows. It is a vicious circle.  While comparing with the other countries, it is visible that all such countries are also facing prob...

Working of Private hospitals in Delhi - An eye opener for the Govt.

A private hospital, as its name refers, is not owned by Government. Under the present economic system, these hospitals work as a company i.e. by issuing shares to public and donations, if any body gives it to them. Quite some of them have tie ups with the companies by giving discounts to their employees for, if they come to hospital for treatment. To the share holders, they give dividend periodically and their shares are quoted in the share market almost daily. This state of affairs have spoiled the entire health system as they run only after profits.  Doctors are hired and given a monetary target to achieve with in a stipulated period otherwise they are no longer required to serve. The result as I have seen and experienced is that their first choice is to attend to those patients who pay cash for consultation, treatment and so on so forth.  On the other hand, patients from Govt. departments come through Panels established by the Government . Doctors give last chance to such p...

Paradox of our age

In the present times.  it is very commonly understood, which seems to be contradictory to common sense, but perhaps true. The paradox according to what I feel are where one exposes the truth of the logic and experience the  meaning of paradox. A few which I feel relevant to the present times are - We have become long on quantity but short on quality. More  knowledge but less judgement. We have bigger houses but smaller families. More convenience but less time. More degrees but less sense. More medicines but less healthiness. We have been all the way to the Moon and back but have trouble in crossing the street to meet the neighbors. These are the times of fast foods but slow digestion. Strong profits but weak relationships. Time is where where there is much in windows but nothing in the room.  These are the facts of the present day society which needs to have strong Governance, not by merely passing the laws, should be brought to the down trodden. Life is a paradox to...

Event that must begin shortly

League of Nations was founded on 10th January,1920 at the Paris Peace conference that ended the First World War to maintain world peace. It ceased the operation on 20th April 1946.  Many of its components were relocated in UNO . The beginning of second world war in 1939 showed that USA never joined the League and Soviet Union joined late but was soon expelled after it invaded Finland.on 30th November 1939, The war with Finland continued from June 1941 to September 1944. Finland declared itself to be neutral in second war but Soviet Union demanded concessions. They bombed Helsinki killing many civilians and damage to property. The purpose of the attack to increase territory.  United Nations Organisation  (UNO) was established on 24th October 1945. after the second world war in 1945 committed to international peace, promoting better living standards and human rights. Russia being a permanent member of United Nations Security Council.     History repeats itself...

Policing of Private Hospitals

It has been quite often observed that private hospitals having their ICUs admits the patients where no relative is allowed to stay more than half an hour in a day and see  the type of care and cure given to the patients. In other words, patient is left alone to solely at the mercy of staff attending to them. These hospitals have their own security guards etc. to keep the relatives away from the patient.who are not even informed to be sure that whether food and medicines are given to the patient on time. I am a victim of such behavior of Fortis Escorts hospital, Okhla, New Delhi. My wife wad admitted on 6th September 2021 and for removal of stone in the gallbladder which was only about one to two hours of surgery. After the surgery, she was kept in ICU for 35 days for different reasons. Whenever I go see my wife I found her either in coma or sometimes speaking in a very low voice. No Doctor was there to say that how this is happening and what treatment they are giving for recovery. ...

Future of Indian Economy

Lots of comments and suggestions are coming up about the future of Indian Economy in the post pandemic and Russia Ukraine war but in case of India we have a different scene to manage its own economy. The main part is how to manage the Inflation?  It  is clear from the history of economic restructuring of various Europe, USA ,Japan and Asian countries, their economy is based on how much strong is the currency of that country by itself. The strength of any currency depends upon  the country's debts, Export - Import trade, foreign exchange earning,, money flow within the country. Another way of looking into historical facts of Inflation is that items remain same but as we say it becomes costly. The background of it, we should understand, that it is the value of money, in real terms. which  has gone down.    I had been to UK, Finland, Belgium,Germany not so long in the past. What I could see that their production processes, medical systems, business is going on...

War with no winner

While watching through the media and reports of happenings in the world, opinion is making strong foothold that war between Russia and Ukraine will certainly going to be a disaster for both of them. The part of land on which this war is being fought is more or less on the same area, from where First and Second world wars started. The final result is known to all. Many economies faced huge sufferings and resorted to restructuring in order to re-establish themselves for which the generations are made to suffer thereafter. Wars in the history since ancient times were carried out with planning - doesn't matter who won or lost. For instance, one should recollect that in order to stop German forces to move further, Russians have started destroying their own crops so that German forces did not get any food /ration as they move forward. This has resulted into weakening of advance of troops movements. A result of poor planning and the cost was immense to the Germans. At present, cause of war...

Steps to increase PF revenue

The issue of   increasing the PF pension to its subscribers who are surviving at Rs. 1,000/- p.m. pension at the present time of inflation is getting momentum. Govt. is considering taking steps to increase the revenue on account of PF subscriptions by various steps. I would like to share my views on the same.    As per EPF Act, it is mandatory for any organization employing 20 persons or more to register under the EPF scheme. If less than 20 are employed, company can opt to register under the scheme.  The working of this condition is quite different. It  often so happens that when more than 20 persons are to be employed, new companies gets floated by the some company with some other name and thus new employees get appointed in that new company. Such companies do not have any locus - standi or may be doing some other business, to be named as shell companies..  By doing in this manner, they save employer's contribution to PF on the one hand and dep...

Prevention is better than cure - A myth now

The phrase - 'Prevention is better than cure' attributed to the Dutch Philosopher Erasmus (around 1500 AD) is a fundamental principle of modern health care strategies. This phrase was made at the time when probably treatment was based on experiences and treatment available at that time. Lot of Articles can be found to say that prevention is better than cure which has become a myth at present. What will happen to the patient, in case even after taking prevention, problem remains? Patient has to be taken up for with proper care.  In the present day scenario, it has become a myth. Patients go for treatment to hospitals only after they consider it necessary since all the preventive measures followed does not give desired results. They go there with the confidence that they will get proper care and, of course, treatment. In medicine, every disease is not curable but in most cases, good care is more effective. For the patients, 'care' is at least as important as 'cure...

Trading in shares/stocks

Post retirement ? One need to generate enough income to maintain lifestyle without exposing own assets to much risk. There are few ways by which retirees can earn like saving accounts, pension plans, social security payments etc. I am discussing following option which, in my view among others, can also be a better option, if considered seriously.  The idea of trading goods takes us back to earlier civilizations when businesses combine their funds to take ships across to other countries. During the middle ages, merchants assembled in the middle of town or coffee shops (in London) to exchange and trade goods from countries worldwide. Since these merchants were from different countries, need arose to establish a money exchange where trading transactions were to be managed fair. This was also required for people who needed to borrow funds and where wealthy merchants lend their money at high rates.  These merchants would then sell bonds backed by these loans and pay interest to peo...

Learning to surviving grief and live again

Most of us don't know what grief is like until we lose someone we love, and no two experiences of loss are exactly the same. The closeness of the person who dies, the time in her life and in ours when death comes, all make a difference in the way we grieve and the time we take to heal. Common denominator to grief for us all, is pain. Trying to avoid the painful emotions of grief leads to greater problems - illness or serious chronic distress. Avoiding the painful feeling of grief leaves us stuck psychologically where we are, unable to change and grow.  When we lose life partner, we experience social isolation because we see ourselves as different from others and different from ourselves before the death occurred. Our role in the community and close friends can change drastically. Letting go of somebody you love is not easy. The insecurity one experiences following a major loss is frightening and devastating.  Sudden death presents more symptoms of shock and consequent so many ...

Hospital where patient not treated well are made to die

It is going to happen and not in late future - a menace which is taking shape in the hospital. I am neither a critic nor  author and does not believe in blame game, but do have the right to explain my finding to share with facts to public and my well wishers. The loss to my life is so grave and caused deep injury to me and am still in trauma and sadness which is to continue as long as live.   By this communication, request to Medical Council of India to look into this matter seriously and save the society from the effect of this menace taking shape slowly. On the one hand, Govt. is serious in saving people's lives from COVID and spending huge sums, and on the other, the hospital striving to increase their earnings by such nuisance by executing wrong practices and playing with the lives of the patients. Escorts Fortis hospital, Sukhdev Vihar, New Delhi, as I understand the place where the origin of this menace is taking shape and put into practice in a very sophisticated cl...

Height of medical negligence in Fortis Escorts hospital

It is a fact that this hospital is a black spot in the history of hospitals of India.  The doctor here are negligent to provide proper treatment to the patient and the hospital does not have any system of checking their working. A CBI inquiry is a much needed action to be taken up to prevent misuse of Govt. funds and subsidies showered upon the hospital. The hospital is full of infection spread in its ICU but the doctor blame it on the patient without considering that the patient was healthy at the time of admission. The head of the hospital Dr Ashok Seth don’t bother to check upon the working of such doctors.     The live example is of Dr Sanjay Verma  who carried out the surgery of removal of stone in the gall bladder of my wife. He kept her in ICU for 35 days for different reasons. She had brain stroke, lungs infection, put on ventilator till her death. A complete disaster of medical system needs inquiry in the case. Government should have a forensic audit o...
